The first points race at Taylorville was a great day. Bailey started off as number one qualifyer in the Stocker and second fast in the Lt. 160. Stocker race was uneventful with Bailey taking the lead on the drop of the green flag and continuing on to a dominate first place finish. Next up is the Lt. 160s, Bailey started on the outside of Mitchell Davis. They had two attempts at the start, with the second being most beneficial to Bailey. She took the lead coming out of turn three. There were only a few cautions for the entire race with Bailey able to hold off Mitchell for a First Place finish. Girls ruled that day with Bailey finishing first and Carlee Gress coming in second.

This was a two day show, but since Greenville had a points race, Dad went over and signed in on day one and we took DNS on the heats for Jr. Stock and Lt. 160 for the day. In other words, tag the tail on day two. We arrived at the track at 11:45, parked and slept for a few hours. Getting up at 6:00 a.m. to get one of the cars changed over from pavement to dirt. Wala, 10:00 a.m. brought racing. First up for Bailey was Jr. Stock. Since Bailey didn't race on Saturday she started in the back, quickly making her way to the number one position and taking the win. with no break between the Jr. Stock and Lt. 160, Bailey jumped from the Stocker into the Lt.160. Starting in 8th, working up to 4th, going for third, tangled up and had a DOT, back to the end, made it back up going for third again and the time ran out, all in all a fourth place finish wasn't too bad. I think they knew she was there.

Wow, what a night! Bailey started off with a win on the checkered flag lap in Heat 1 of the Lt.160. Running back to back, up next was the Jr. Honda. Lap one brought car failure, sheared the engine hub pins, DNF. Round two of the heats starts off with another win in the Lt. 160 and a win in Jr. Honda. Up next are the features, with a number 1 starting position in the Lt. 160 and a number 3 starting position in the Jr. Honda. 40 laps of excitement in the Lt. 160, Bailey Wenthe started on the pole and never looked back, Bailey Goldesberry salvaged a second place finish to fall to second place in the points standings. Jumping out after weighing, and getting into the Jr. Honda, tucked in for 30 more laps. Bailey had a 10 point lead in the points standings and remains in the lead after a win in the Jr. Honda.

Saturday started off with qualifying, Bailey qualified 2nd in the Jr. Stock, 2nd in the Lt. B, and 3rd in the Lt. 160 (out of 24) in her third time running the car. Sunday brought sun shine and A Main day. Since states races are run in Grands format, the starting grid line up was inverted. Bailey started 3rd in the Jr. Stock, 2nd in the Lt. B, and 3rd in the Lt. 160. The Jr. Stock race was first up, Bailey got off to a great start and never looked back, taking the lead on lap 1 and leading the next 30 laps for the win. Next up was the Lt. B race, 40 more laps. Bailey had an outside starting position which is always a bad place to be, she ran with Tanner Reed from the Terre Haute Club side by side on the outside for about four laps before finally taking the lead. She ran in the lead for about 15 laps before she spun herself out between turns one and two. Restarted at the tail, a spin for Evan Turner from CCQMA lead to a pile up of Bailey, Evan, and Jordyn Scott (THQMA), damaging Bailey's front suspension, axel, shock, and spindel. The next restart Bailey was back on the gas but ended up pulling off the track for a 3rd place finish due to the front end damage. Thank goodness all drivers were safe. The Lt. 160 brought another 40 laps of nail bitting racing. Dad changed the gear right before the race started, should have left it alone. Bailey slowly went backwards ending up in 8th place. All in all it was a good day. Great Job Bailey!

The original plan for the young quarter midget racer was to race at the CCQMA points race this past Sunday, but knowing that rain was going to be an issue, the Goldesberry team decided to race in Broadwell, Illinois on Saturday. Bailey started fourth in the first heat of the ALQMA Dirt Race and managed a second place finish on the tight, hard to pass bullring. Starting second in the next heat, young Goldesberry raced right behind the leader throughout the eight lap contest and even though the finish was close and exciting, she just wasn’t able to advance to the lead and take the win. It was a day of seconds for the Springfield, Illinois racer as she then started on the outside pole of the main event and ended up finishing second to cap off the event.

8 year old Bailey Goldesberry out of Springfield, IL traveled up to Greenville, IL this past weekend to race on the pavement with the QMA. She competed in two classes including the Junior Honda class and the Light 160 class and was certainly no stranger to the facility as she placed second in the March Madness earlier in the year. The format for the QMA is to run two heat races in which the lineups are inverted and then the average finish of the heats determines your starting position for the main event. Bailey started third in the first heat race of the Light 160 class and as she made her way up to the number two spot, the chain broke on the quarter midget and Bailey was forced a DNF. Father Merle fixed the racer and got young Goldesberry back on the track for the second heat. She took the lead on lap eight and paved the way to the checkered to win the second heat in the Lights 160. The main event was definitely a sight to see as Bailey took the lead on the third lap after starting on the inside of the second row and then was able to lap the entire field up to second and earn the 1st place trophy.

The other class Bailey competed in was with the Junior Honda’s. She finished second in both heats to give her a nice starting position for the main event and then she ran towards the front throughout the main until the ninth lap where she fell back to 7th. Gathering the machine and putting the elbows up, Bailey was able to race back inside the podium and finish in the third position.
